Daily mode: The same temple is available to all players for 24 hours. Unlike other modes, players can retry this temple as many times as they like.

Activating blessings costs more with each subsequent redemption, adding a compelling risk-reward element. While some treasure chests are easy to find, many are hidden away in areas requiring dextrous platforming skills to reach, or take precious time away from avoiding an in-pursuit guardian.

What really adds to this is how Phantom Abyss does its levels: Once someone wins a particular delve they get the treasure at the bottom and that's it—nobody else can ever play or win it again.

Sad to say, From the Abyss is an extremely unremarkable game through-and-through. From the visual style and plot to the game mechanics, it's all been done before in some form or another. The good news in all of this is the game still offers a good time for fans of the genre.

My biggest gripes with this action platformer concern the temperamental physics, repetitive maps, and lengthy load times.

... and what killed them. After failing to complete a temple you can share out the temple code to your friends who also play Phantom Abyss giving them a chance to complete the temple themselves, and bring back any loot you lost within.

Without the gimmick, game gets repetitive and boring really quick, it feels like you're incentivized not to play now but later instead to see other phantoms in the same temples as you are.
